Exploring the pathways and possibilities of self-education, sharing with those that have found their way outside of traditional routes and systems – training outside of the classroom, in the community, and in their own homes.

Taking a pause to consider how, since the pandemic, people have evolved their careers through retraining or focusing on new ideas, some now balancing portfolio careers.

Looking at how freelancers have survived whilst developing alongside others, how this is helping to strengthen the sector, and how relationships to formal structures has led to learning and progression for all involved.

MAX Founder, Artistic Director and International Opera Singer Andrew Watts is joined by Marina Norris the founder of Cultural Bag, Oboist and Conductor Nicholas Daniel OBE and composer Dr. Raymond Yiu.

In this session the panel will engage with the freelancer tackling the issues of education and look at awakening curiosity in each and everyone to imagine a new a broader landscape when traditional education is considered important… but not a necessity.
