Freelancing 101: Employment and Immigration Law

Employment and Immigration Law - recorded seminar.

In this recorded seminar, Finnian Clarke, Employment Tribunal Casework (United Voices of the World) and Eva Doerr, Immigration and Employment Barrister, speak with Dr Diana Damian Martin at Migrants in Culture about key areas of knowledge for freelance culture workers and migrant culture workers around immigration and employment law. They discuss rights, worker routes for migrants, breaches of contract, expectations when working with culture organisations, sponsorship of visas and taking agency in a hostile sector.

Eva Doerr specialises in all areas of public and human rights law, with a focus on immigration and asylum law and challenges based on the Equality Act. She regularly appears before immigration tribunals and the Administrative Court and has particular expertise in retained EU law post Brexit and refugee family reunion in Europe. As a specialist in all areas of immigration law including family, asylum, deportation, detention, nationality and trafficking, she has experience and a particular interest in complex Judicial Review challenges.

Finnian Clarke is a Legal Caseworker at United Voices of the World, a trade union working predominantly with migrant and precarious workers. He is a future pupil barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, starting October 2022.
