Widely praised for his dramatic voice and stage presence, countertenor Andrew Watts has established himself as one of the finest singers of his generation.

He was born in Middlesex and studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Geoffrey Mitchell.

Andrew has appeared in over sixty world premieres including major works written for him by Olga Neuwirth, Unsuk Chin, Harrison Birtwistle, Aribert Reimann, John Tavener, Torsten Rasch, Elena Langer and Lisa Lim. Andrew regularly appears with all the leading opera companies and orchestras throughout the world. He has appeared with the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Berlin (Staatsoper and Komische Oper), Hamburg, Munich, Strasbourg, La Scala, Milan, La Fenice, Venice, Lyon, Graz, Ghent, Antwerp, Stanislavsky Theatre, Moscow, and the Festivals of Vienna, Aldeburgh, Florence, Montepulciano and Batignano.

He has a very wide ranging repertoire from the baroque to the present day and is equally in demand on the concert and recital platform and has appeared all over Europe, including the Salzburg, Ruhr Triennale, Aix-en-Provence, Bregenz, Lucerne and Edinburgh Festivals, and in Canada, USA and Australia.
