To organise… or not to organise?

What drives freelancers to organise; what are the benefits, how can it become sustainable, should the onus be on the freelancers in the first place? The pandemic highlighted the inequalities across our sector - inequalities that have existed for a long time.

But who gets to be the voice of the freelancer? How do we ensure that voices are heard without burn out? And how do we give the freelance workforce permission to be loud? This session will aim to highlight some of the opportunities and challenges for freelancer led organising - exploring some of the groups, both large and small, and whether strength in numbers is really a thing. As well as this we will hear from organisations who are supporting freelancers to engage in really important and meaningful dialogue together – which will in turn influence the sector.
