WATCH: Activating Mentorship

Mentoring is often heralded as one of the most important ways of supporting access and retention in the arts. But what is mentoring? Who should and who could be a mentor, and what does successful mentoring look like?

What are the boundaries and frameworks that support its effectiveness, and how can we take the leap, make the connection, and find this support?

Join Nurull Islam and Tian Glasgow in conversation about how they facilitate these relationships, and their own reflections from both sides of the mentor - mentee experience.

This event relates to outcomes of action-based research, Performing Leadership Differently (2021), led by Queen Mary University of London (School of Business and Management) and Something To Aim For, which identified the importance of diverse and relevant mentoring as a key mechanism to support increased diversity in the arts, empowerment, resistance and survival.

The event is introduced by Gini Simpson, Head of Programme at Something To Aim For.
